Biografia
Cédric Grueau is Assistent Professor at the Department of Systems and Computer Science at the Setúbal School of Technology - Setúbal Polytechnic University. He is also an Invited Researcher of the MARE - Centre for Marine and Environmental Sciences and of ALGORITMI, a research unit of the School of Engineering - University of Minho. His research interests cover mainly the creation of interactive tools, in diverse media, that use the value of the spatial context and human behaviour to simulate resource management.
He has applied his research in the areas of Geographic Information Systems in Environmental Planning and Management, particularly in simulation related to Regional Planning as well as Mining. More recently, he has extended the applicability of his work in the areas of water management and health, focusing on building platforms to collect and manage data to provide decision support for national agencies. He has had leading roles and participated in several national and EU funded Projects such as WISDom - Water Intelligence System Data, AiECHOES AI supported Early-risk prediCtion and intervention of Health cOnditions with pErsonalized Sensors, PROBIO - Decision Support System for Planning and Management of Biodiversity in Protected Areas. His supervision activity has included, so far, more than 20 BSc students and several MSc students.
He has collaborated with several public institutions, such as the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC), the Portuguese Association of the Mineral Resources Industry, the ICNF - Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests among others. He is part of the program committee of several scientific conferences and has reviewed papers for a variety of scientific journals.
