MARIA DE FÁTIMA PISTA CALADO MENDES é Professora Coordenadora na Escola Superior de Educação, do Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal. is Coordinating Professor at the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (ESE/IPS), with a PHD in Education, specializing in Mathematics Didactics. She has extensive experience in initial and continuing teacher training, having supervised several internships and supervised several research reports to obtain a master's degree in teacher training. She also supervised (in collaboration) an already completed doctoral thesis Her work is focused on learning of mathematics and mathematics education. Her research has been focused on the following areas: Learning of multiplication on primary grades, Numbers and mental calculation, Development of number sense, Development of mathematical reasoning, and Lessons Study as formative process in initial teacher training. In the last five years, she had participated in research projects related to these areas (ARTICULAR, funded by IPS+Santander; DER - Digital Educational Resources Project, funded by POCH; REASON, funded by FCT) and had participated in intervention projects related with initial and in-service teacher education, funded by the World Bank and Camões Institute.
