Biografia

Tiago Miguel Santa Rita Simões de Pinho, graduated in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Minho (2005) and PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering – Operations Research – Logistics Branch, from the University of Minho (2010).

Currently, he is a Coordinating Professor at the School of Business Sciences, Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (ESCE/IPS). Since September 2020, he has been Course Director of the Master's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Having joined IPS in 2014, he was Course Director of the Degree in Distribution and Logistics Management – After-Work. In February 2019, he was appointed as Course Director of the Bachelor's Degree in Distribution and Logistics Management – day regime. In addition, he is also an internal auditor of IPS, within the scope of its Integrated Management and Quality Assurance System (SIGGQ). He is also Vice-President of the Department of Marketing and Logistics (DML), member of the Executive Committee of the Centre for Research in Business Sciences (CICE) and Member of the General Council of IPS. Between 2018 and 2020, he was a member of the Technical Scientific Council of ESCE/IPS, having been a member of the Executive Committee.

In 2016, he was one of the founders of the ESCE/IPS Logistics Laboratory – LogisticLab, which aims to enhance cooperation between companies and higher education institutions.

Between 2009 and 2013, he was a lecturer at the School of Business Sciences, of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (ESCE/IPVC), accumulating with the function of Course Director of the Master's Degree in Logistics at APNOR, the Degree in Distribution and Logistics Management and the CET in Logistics. In addition, he was responsible for several quality management processes and was part of the Pedagogical Council of ESCE/IPVC.

He has participated in several doctoral and master's juries, as well as has supervised several dissertations in the area of supply chain management and industrial management. He has several scientific articles published in indexed and national international journals in the area of Supply Chain, as well as has participated in several international and national conferences. Currently, he has several applied research projects underway in national and multinational companies in the area of supply chain management.

As part of his PhD in Companies, carried out at dst - domingos da silva teixeira, s.a., between 2005 and 2010, he participated in a process of development of an information system to support the logistics management of the work, in a construction company with several business areas, as well as was involved in several projects to improve the company's operations.

Since 2012, he has been the pedagogical manager of the largest Logistics training event in Portugal, "24 Hours of Logistics".

In 2018, he was invited to participate in the "Single Logistics Window" project, representing the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, a project of 5.1 million Euros, 85% co-financed by Compete 2020.

In 2020, he co-founded the company LogiAM Logistics – Applied Analytics and Mathematical Modeling, a company dedicated to Big Data Analytics applied to the Supply Chain, awarded as one of the 8 best start-ups in Portugal, by the EIT Digital Venture Program 2020.

Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Sines Tecnopolo, Association Center for the Incubation of Technology-Based Companies Vasco da Gama, based in Sines.

In 2022, he was appointed the Principal Investigator of the IPS team in the "Sines Nexus" Project, an agenda dedicated to Innovation and Digital Transition.

The project is funded by the RRP, with a total value of 111 million Euros.
