The Polytechnic of Setúbal is a higher education institution committed to promoting academic excellence, innovation and regional development.

In this sense, the Polytechnic of Setúbal intends that its Research & Development + Innovation (R&D+i) policy is aimed at responding to major societal challenges.

The R&D+i activity of the Polytechnic of Setúbal is governed by the principles of freedom of investigation and responsibility and scientific ethics, complying with the stipulations in the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the Polytechnic of Setúbal, in the Open Science Policy, as well as the commitment with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), within the scope of the priorities of the 2030 Agenda for global development.

For more than 40 years, the Polytechnic of Setúbal has been a driver of transformation, providing quality educational opportunities and contributing to the social and economic progress of the region.

Strategic Objective

Consolidate specific areas of research, based on knowledge and relevant scientific production, affirming the Polytechnic of Setúbal in the national and international context.

Lines of Action

The strategic policy for the area of scientific research at the Polytechnic of Setúbal, integrates the following lines of action:

  1. Support the creation and development of UI&IPS, EGP-IPS and/or Collaborative Laboratories accredited by the FCT in conjunction with the strategic priorities of the OUs involved, and provide You will gain the necessary resources and skills that promote your success in strategic areas of research at IPS.
  2. Consolidate the policy of stimulus and incentive to carrying out R&D+i activities.
  3. Promote the alignment of R&D+i activities with the training offered by IPS.
  4. Strengthen research through cooperation with external national and international entities, particularly in the development of research projects by attracting external funding.
  5. Promote the dissemination, dissemination and exploration of scientific results.
  6. Stimulate and consolidate different types of service provision and scientific consultancy work, relevant to organizations, in the different scientific and laboratory domains of the IPS.
  7. Propose a governance structure.
